I knew i was going to Sweden in the half term and I herd it was heavy snow there, so that inspired me a little because I have always loved snow. But I remember that I was really pissed off one day and that’s where I got my volcano idea, I felt like I wanted to exploded like what volcano’s do when the erupt. i decided to use both of these catastrophe, but I wasn’t sure whether this could actually happen until we was told to make a collage of our catastrophe and then I found lots of pictures of my theme.
I really liked researching designers such as Damir Doma autumn/winter 2010/11 collection at Paris fashion week, Juun. Js men’s RTW fall 2010 and Aitor Troups show some leg collection again at Paris fashion week. My absolute favourite designer was Acne i loves his designers and because he’s Swedish that even better. I loved everything from the jumpsuits to trousers and jackets, i loved the colours and materials and how the clothes drape on the models.
We went to London and it didn’t really inspire me to come up with designed. But in the design museum the only thing i enjoyed looking at was Aitor Throups collections and watching Alexander McQueen’s collection on a TV screen.
In one of our lessons we was taken outside and blind folded this really helped me get into my catastrophe and think about what it would feel like, if it was cold, peaceful and dangerous and this helped me to think what parts of my body need to be covered to keep warm.
I knew now that i wouldn’t to create a winter outfit but use the fire from the volcano to help me come up with more designs and help me if my designs look the same. I knew we had to make a surface pattern but I didn’t know where to put it on my design but some of my designs i have biased them around my patterns but I think the all like armour outfits.
Now I’ve finished my garment I really like the outcome and how it looks, I didn’t want to put a surface pattern on my jacket or jumpsuit so I made a belt which I think turned out really well, I found the jumpsuit easier to make than the jacket because parts of the jacket wouldn’t match up and it looks like a harry potter jacket. But I really like how it all turned out.
this is my chosen surface pattern.
